Description
Steal Simulator is a first-person stealth and heist game developed by a small independent studio. The game places the player in the role of an unnamed thief operating in a procedurally generated urban environment. The primary objective is to infiltrate residential and commercial buildings, bypass security systems, and steal designated high-value items without being detected by occupants or law enforcement. The game world is presented in a low-polygon art style with a muted color palette, emphasizing shadows and light as core gameplay elements. Each level is randomly generated, altering building layouts, guard patrol routes, and item locations to ensure replayability. The game features a persistent progression system where stolen goods are converted into currency, which can be used to purchase new tools, lockpicks, and upgrades for the player character’s equipment. There is no narrative campaign; the experience is entirely mission-based, with increasing difficulty tiers that introduce more complex security measures, including motion sensors, cameras, and armed guards.
Instructions
Gameplay mechanics are centered on three core actions: movement, interaction, and stealth. The player character moves using the W, A, S, and D keys for directional movement. The mouse controls the camera view and aiming. The left mouse button performs primary interactions, such as picking locks, grabbing items, or opening doors. The right mouse button activates a secondary tool, such as a crowbar for forced entry or a flashlight for dark areas. The spacebar initiates a crouch, reducing movement speed but significantly lowering detection range. The Shift key enables a sprint, which is loud and increases detection risk. The E key is used to pick up and carry stolen items, while the Q key drops them. The Tab key opens the inventory and mission brief, showing the target item list and current security status.
Tactical techniques rely on understanding sound and line-of-sight mechanics. Guards and residents have a cone of vision; staying outside this cone and moving while crouched reduces detection. Shadows provide complete invisibility, but moving through light sources alerts enemies. The player must time movements to avoid patrol routes, which are indicated by a minimap after purchasing a scanner upgrade. A core technique is the "distraction throw": pressing the F key tosses a coin or other small object, creating a noise that draws guards away from a path. For electronic security, the player must use a multitool (purchased from the shop) by holding the left mouse button on a camera or sensor to disable it for a limited time. The most effective strategy for high-difficulty missions involves disabling cameras first, then using distractions to isolate guards, and finally sprinting to the target item only when the area is clear. Failure to escape before a timer expires or being caught results in the loss of all stolen items for that mission.
