Description

Slap Sahur is a competitive multiplayer party game developed by an independent Indonesian studio, released in 2023 for personal computers and mobile platforms. The game is set during the pre-dawn meal period (sahur) of Ramadan, where players assume the role of a household member tasked with waking sleeping relatives. The objective is to deliver a precise slap to each sleeping character’s face, causing them to rise and begin their sahur meal. The game features a single-screen arena with multiple beds arranged in a cluttered bedroom environment. Each round lasts 60 seconds, and the player with the highest number of successful slaps at the end wins. The game supports up to four local players, each controlling a distinct character with a unique slap animation speed and recovery time. The visual style is cartoonish with exaggerated facial expressions, and the audio includes ambient sounds of snoring and distant mosque calls.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics center on timing and positioning. Each sleeping character has a visible “sleep meter” that depletes over time. A successful slap occurs when the player’s hand connects with the character’s face while the sleep meter is above 50%. If the meter is below 50%, the slap fails and the player is stunned for 1.5 seconds. After a successful slap, the character wakes up and must be slapped again after a 3-second cooldown to reset the meter. The game uses a fixed camera angle from above, and players move their character with the left analog stick or WASD keys. The slap action is performed by pressing the spacebar or the A button on a controller. A charged slap is executed by holding the slap button for 0.5 seconds, which increases the stun duration on a failed slap but guarantees a successful slap if the sleep meter is above 70%. Tactical techniques include positioning the character directly in front of the sleeping target’s head to maximize hit accuracy. Players can also use a “dodge” move by double-tapping a movement key or pressing the left bumper, which allows a quick sidestep to avoid being hit by another player’s slap. A key technique is to monitor the sleep meters of all targets and prioritize those with the highest meter, as they require less precision. Advanced players employ the “fake slap” by tapping the slap button briefly without committing to a full press, causing the character to flinch and potentially baiting an opponent into a failed slap. The game rewards consistent rhythm over speed, as consecutive successful slaps build a combo multiplier that increases the score per slap by 0.5 points, up to a maximum of 3x.
