The primary objective is to locate, extract, and trade valuable salvage materials while managing limited resources such as hydration, energy, and inventory space. A persistent day-night cycle and dynamic weather system directly affect visibility, movement speed, and the behavior of hostile environmental entities. The player character does not level up; instead, progression is achieved through the acquisition of better tools, vehicles, and storage upgrades purchased from a neutral trading post. Death results in the permanent loss of all carried items, though a small base camp retains stored resources. The game features no narrative campaign; the experience is entirely emergent, driven by the player’s decisions regarding risk, route planning, and resource allocation.

Gameplay mechanics are centered on resource management and spatial navigation. The player controls a character viewed from a fixed overhead angle. The core loop involves leaving a safe base, traversing a map to locate salvage nodes, extracting materials using a handheld scanner, and returning before resources are depleted. Each salvage node has a finite extraction time; the scanner must remain active and stationary for the duration. Movement is controlled via the W, A, S, and D keys. The mouse is used to aim the scanner and interact with objects via left-click. The right mouse button activates a sprint function, which consumes energy at a high rate. The spacebar triggers a short-range dodge roll, which has a cooldown of three seconds. The number keys 1 through 4 select inventory items, while the Q key opens the map. The E key is used to enter and exit vehicles. Vehicles, once acquired, increase movement speed and provide a small storage capacity but consume fuel and cannot traverse rocky terrain.

Tactical techniques center on route efficiency and threat avoidance. The player should always scan the map before leaving base to identify the shortest path to high-value salvage nodes, avoiding areas marked with red icons indicating active hazards. Energy management is critical; sprinting should be reserved for escaping threats or crossing open ground during daylight. The dodge roll can interrupt enemy attack animations and should be timed to avoid projectile-based threats. Inventory space is limited; the player should prioritize high-weight, high-value items such as circuit boards and fuel cells over common scrap. When using a vehicle, the player should park it at the edge of a salvage zone and proceed on foot, as vehicles attract more aggressive entities. At night, visibility is reduced by 60 percent; the player should either return to base or find a pre-designated shelter point marked on the map. Trading at the post should focus on purchasing a larger backpack and a fuel-efficient vehicle before any cosmetic upgrades.
