Description

Iron Pink is a 2023 single-player puzzle-platformer developed by Studio Velvet. The player controls a small, pink, iron-clad robot named Unit-7, who awakens in an abandoned industrial facility. The game’s primary objective is to navigate through 40 levels of increasingly complex environmental puzzles. The core mechanic involves the robot’s ability to magnetize itself to ferrous surfaces, allowing it to walk on walls and ceilings. The narrative is conveyed entirely through environmental storytelling and silent cinematic sequences. The game features a minimalist art style with a muted color palette dominated by shades of gray and rust, contrasting with the protagonist’s bright pink chassis. Sound design relies on metallic clangs, hums of machinery, and ambient industrial drones.

Instructions

Gameplay and controls are structured around two primary modes: locomotion and magnetic adhesion. The player moves Unit-7 using the left analog stick or the W, A, S, D keys. The right analog stick or mouse controls the camera. The magnetic adhesion is activated by holding the left trigger (L2 on PlayStation, LT on Xbox) or the left mouse button. While held, the robot attaches to any metal surface within a short radius. Releasing the button detaches the robot, subjecting it to gravity. A secondary ability, the “Pulse,” is triggered by pressing the right bumper (R1/RB) or the spacebar. This emits a short-range electromagnetic wave that repels small metallic objects and temporarily disables magnetic locks. Tactical techniques include “magnetic sliding,” where the player holds the adhesion button while moving on a metal surface to maintain speed, and “pulse jumping,” which involves detaching mid-air and immediately pulsing to redirect momentum. Advanced players use “chain adhesion” by rapidly tapping the adhesion button to hop between closely spaced metal panels without losing altitude.
