The game places the player in control of a cephalopod protagonist navigating a series of procedurally generated underwater caverns. The primary objective is to locate a single pearl hidden within each level while managing a limited oxygen supply. The game world is rendered in a top-down perspective with a muted color palette, emphasizing environmental hazards such as sharp coral, electric eels, and shifting currents. Each level is a closed grid of interconnected chambers, with the pearl’s location randomized at the start. The octopus character possesses the ability to change color for camouflage, which is essential for avoiding predators and triggering hidden passages. The game features a scoring system based on time elapsed, pearls collected, and bonus items retrieved. There is no narrative campaign; progression is linear through increasingly complex levels.

Gameplay mechanics are centered on exploration and resource management. The player moves the octopus through a grid-based map using directional input. On mobile, this is achieved via a virtual joystick; on PC, the arrow keys or WASD keys are used. The octopus can squeeze through narrow gaps by pressing the action button (spacebar on PC, tap on mobile) when adjacent to a crevice. Camouflage is activated by holding the secondary action button (shift on PC, long press on mobile), which drains stamina. Stamina regenerates when camouflage is deactivated. Oxygen is displayed as a bar at the top of the screen and depletes continuously; it can be replenished by collecting air bubbles that appear in specific chambers. The pearl is always located in a chamber that requires solving a simple environmental puzzle, such as aligning a series of colored crystals or redirecting a current using the octopus’s ink. Ink is deployed by pressing the third action button (E on PC, double tap on mobile), which creates a temporary cloud that stuns small predators and reveals hidden paths.

Core tactical techniques involve efficient route planning and stamina management. Players should memorize the layout of each chamber upon entry, as the map is not fully revealed until visited. Using camouflage only when approaching predator-dense areas or puzzle triggers conserves stamina for critical moments. The ink cloud is most effective when used to block line-of-sight from electric eels, which patrol specific corridors. Air bubbles should be collected only when oxygen drops below 50 percent, as they are finite and do not respawn. The fastest path to the pearl often involves bypassing bonus items, as time penalties for oxygen depletion are severe. In later levels, the octopus must use the environment to create shortcuts, such as riding currents by aligning with their flow direction, which is indicated by particle effects. Players are advised to pause and observe predator patrol patterns for at least five seconds before moving into a new chamber.
