DUO SummerBombs

DUO SummerBombs is a two-player competitive arcade game released in 2023 for PC and console platforms. The game is set on a series of tropical island arenas during a summer festival. Each match involves two players controlling bomb-wielding characters, with the objective of eliminating the opponent by detonating explosives within a shrinking play area. The game features a top-down perspective and a vibrant, cel-shaded art style. Rounds are timed at 90 seconds; if no elimination occurs, the player with higher health wins. The game supports local and online multiplayer, with no single-player campaign.

Gameplay centers on placing and detonating bombs. Each player has a bomb inventory of three. Bombs are placed on the ground and detonate after a 2.5-second fuse. The explosion radius is three tiles in a cross pattern. Players can kick bombs by pressing the action button while adjacent to a bomb, sending it sliding in a straight line until it hits a wall or obstacle. Controls: Left analog stick or WASD for movement. Right analog stick or mouse for aiming bomb throws (hold to aim, release to throw). A button or Spacebar to place a bomb at the player’s feet. B button or Left Shift to kick a bomb. X button or R to pick up and carry a bomb (slows movement by 30%). Y button or E to detonate a carried bomb early. Tactical techniques include chain detonation: placing a bomb next to an opponent’s bomb to trigger a larger blast. Corner trapping involves kicking bombs into narrow passages to limit escape routes. Defensive play uses bomb placement to block enemy movement, as bombs act as solid objects until detonation. Players can also use the environment: water tiles extinguish bomb fuses, and explosive barrels increase blast radius by one tile.
