Description

Color Race Obby is a multiplayer obstacle course game developed within the Roblox platform. The game combines traditional obby (obstacle course) mechanics with a color-matching system. Players navigate a series of linear stages composed of colored platforms, barriers, and moving hazards. The primary objective is to reach the finish line of each level while adhering to a color-based restriction: a player’s avatar can only safely stand on or interact with platforms that match the color currently assigned to that player. The game features a dynamic color assignment that changes at predetermined intervals or upon contact with specific color-switching zones. Each level is designed with a distinct color palette, and the course layout requires players to time their movements to align with their active color. The game supports up to twelve players per server, with a leaderboard tracking completion times and checkpoint progress. Failure to match the correct color results in immediate respawn at the last checkpoint. The game includes a shop system where earned coins can be exchanged for cosmetic avatar accessories and color trail effects.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics are governed by a color-matching rule. At the start of each level, every player is assigned one of four primary colors: red, blue, green, or yellow. The player’s avatar glows with this color. Platforms and obstacles are also colored. The player can only stand on, jump onto, or walk across surfaces that match their assigned color. Contact with a non-matching color causes instant failure, resetting the player to the most recent checkpoint. Color assignments change when the player passes through a color-switch gate, which cycles the player’s color to the next in a fixed sequence. Some levels feature moving color-changing zones that alter the player’s color upon contact. The game uses a checkpoint system; checkpoints are marked by colored pillars and save progress only when the player’s color matches the checkpoint’s color.

Operation controls are standard for Roblox platformers. The W, A, S, and D keys control forward, left, backward, and right movement. The spacebar performs a jump. Holding the spacebar allows for a longer jump when landing on moving platforms. The mouse controls camera rotation; holding the right mouse button and dragging rotates the view. The left mouse button is not used for gameplay. The shift key enables sprinting, which increases movement speed but does not affect jump distance. The E key interacts with color-switch gates and shop items.

Tactical techniques involve predicting color changes. Players should memorize the color sequence of switch gates on each level. Timing jumps to land on a platform just as the color changes is a core skill. On levels with moving color zones, players can wait near the zone’s edge to trigger a color change while remaining stationary. Sprinting is best used on straight, color-matched sections to reduce time. When approaching a checkpoint, players should ensure their current color matches the checkpoint’s color before crossing it, as mismatched checkpoints do not save progress. In multiplayer, observing other players’ colors can indicate upcoming color changes, as all players share the same color cycle sequence on a given level.
