Description

Bird Obstacle Flappy is a 2D side-scrolling mobile game developed by an independent studio in 2014. The player controls a small bird navigating a series of vertical gaps between green pipes of varying heights. The objective is to pass through as many gaps as possible without colliding with a pipe, the ground, or the top of the screen. The game uses a fixed camera perspective and procedurally generated obstacle placement. Each successful passage through a gap increments the score by one point. The game ends immediately upon any collision, and the final score is displayed before an option to restart.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics are based on a single input control. The bird is subject to a constant downward gravitational acceleration. Each tap on the screen applies an instantaneous upward velocity impulse, causing the bird to ascend a fixed distance. The player must time these taps to maintain the bird’s altitude within the narrow vertical gap between pipes. The horizontal speed of the bird is constant and cannot be altered. Tactical techniques include tapping in short, rhythmic bursts to avoid overshooting the gap, and releasing the screen to allow the bird to descend naturally. The player should focus on the leading edge of the approaching pipe rather than the bird itself. A common error is tapping too frequently, which causes the bird to hit the top pipe. The optimal strategy is to keep the bird’s trajectory centered in the gap by using minimal corrective taps. No power-ups, pause functions, or alternative control schemes exist.
